History, Officers, Past Presidents, Bill Magner Appreciation Award:
The Morris Camera club was organized in January 1977 by four persons who had the interest and foresight to form a camera club. These four individuals were Brent Mc Ardle, Lola Pine, Tobey Nagel and Phyllis Wiekert. David Carr joined the group shortly after the formation and served as the club's first president from 1977 to 1979.  The club year was established from September 1 through August 31.

The mission of the Morris Camera Club is to share and promote photography in and around Grundy County, Illinois through cooperation, effort and good fellowship. The meetings were first held in club members' homes and apartments. As the club grew, the meetings were moved to a meeting room in the Morris City Hall at the corner of Jefferson and Wauponsee Avenues.
Some meetings were held at the Morris Public Library until the city hall was settled on.  The meetings have always been the second Thursday of every month.  After one year, the club was up to twenty members.  Dues, then, were established as $10 for a single member or $15 for a family, i.e. more than one member at the same address.

In 1978, the camera club assumed hosting the Grundy County Cornfestival Photo Exhibit. The first year, the photo contest was held in the basement of the Morris City Hall - meeting room. The photo exhibit had five categories in the adult division the first year. A youth division was established years later.

In 1979, John Zappia became the second president of the new camera club. By the end of his term, the club was up to about 35 members. The Grundy County Corn Festival Photo Exhibit is the main vehicle for attracting new members.

The "Bill Magner" Service Appreciation Award was established in 1980 with the first recipient being Bill Magner. Bill Magner received the award for designing and building the peg board racks, along with Walt McLuckie that are still used today for the photo exhibit. The award is presented yearly by the current president to a club member chosen by the president that has gone above and beyond the call in service to the camera club.
